As it relates to past geopolitical events, market disruptions have been short-lived, especially if the US economy is strong. The consumer makes up about 70% of GDP. Last month, consumer spending was up by 2.1% and retail sales were also up by 3.8% - way more than expected.
LPL Research does not predict a recession for the U.S. economy based on healthy consumer data and a strong corporate earnings backdrop. The Federal Reserve will likely take a more dovish stance on March 15-16th than what was expected two weeks ago.
